Environmental Unit Reflection

This past unit in N.E.W. School was about the environment. We have learned valuable skills in science, english, and in technology.

In Science class one thing we focused on was how different organisms are connected in a food web. The food web activity we did really opened my eyes to see that all organisms are connected in one way or another. In this activity we were given names of organisms and had to connect them in our food web using yarn. Through much trial and error we completed this activity and it was correct! I was able to use this logic for the other activities in the unit.

In English class, I really tried to strengthen my analysis of data and quotes. I worked on this when writing my research paper on the plastic in our ocean. This skill is important to know and to keep improving on because it will let you dive deeper into the text and will make the reader understand why the data piece is relevant to your topic.

In technology I have been using Google Drawing to create sketchnotes of the book The Sixth Extinction. I have loved using this option Google offers because it lets me be creative when analyzing the text. I also love the idea of making sketchnotes because I am a visual learner.

In this Environmental Unit, I have learned so much about the environment and how to maintain and improve it. I have learned new skills that will help me in my future and that will allow me to excel in school.
